Allen Needham & Co
Est. 1907
Our law firm was established on 1 January 1907 by Sir Stephen Allen. The original building was located at 52 Canada Street, Morrinsville, where we are today.
Mr Arthur Needham, admitted to the bar on 1 March 1923 and Mr R. B. Morton, admitted to the bar on 24 November 1924, joined Sir Stephen in partnership under the name Allen, Needham & Morton.
The firm was subsequently called Allen Needham, Sanford & Lang when the partners of the firm were John Needham, son of Mr Arthur Needham, Howard Sanford, Fred Lang and Graeme Ashmore.
Graeme Ashmore left the firm in 1972 and Howard Sanford retired as a partner in 1974. Greg McDonnell joined the partnership in 1974, joining John Needham and Fred Lang as partners of the firm.
In 1986 the firm changed its name to Allen, Needham & Co when Rod Needham, son of John Needham, and Bob Craven joined the firm as partners. In December 2010 the firm became an incorporated company. Bob Craven retired from the firm in 2010.
On 21 August 2017 Grant Summerell was appointed a director of Allen Needham & Co. Ltd. Greg McDonnell retired from law on 1 October 2017.
On 9 February 2022 Nicola Needham, daughter of Rod and a fourth generation Needham, was appointed a director of Allen Needham & Co Ltd.
In 2022 this firm continues to support its clients and community as it has done for the last 115 years.
